Singer 7258 100-Stitch – 2020 Review

The Singer 7258 is a sturdy, versatile sewing machine that’s jam-packed with features and settings.

While researching my next sewing machine, the 7258 consistently stood out due to its extensive feature list and strong customer reviews. I’ve summarized my research below.

Computerized Machine with 100 Stitches

There are two things I look for: ease of use and versatility. Fortunately, the Singer 7258 excels in both areas.

Unlike cheaper models, the 7258 has an LED screen. This lets you alter various settings, including stitch width and length, much faster.

You can also use the LED screen to switch between 100 different stitches. To give you an idea of the variety of stitches available, there are 76 decorative stitches included, along with a number of essential and stretch stitches.

Additionally, the machine has seven automatic one-step buttonhole settings, making it easy to create the perfect buttonholes for your project.

10 Presser Feet

Continuing with the theme of versatility, the Singer 7258 comes with ten presser feet. These include all-purpose, zipper, overcasting, blind hem, gathering and darning stitch feet.

The combination of presser feet and 100 stitch settings means that there are few projects you won’t be able to take on with the Singer 7258.

Features and Specifications

  • The Singer 7258 is built with an automatic threading system. In fact, the manufacturer claims that you can thread the machine in around six seconds!
  • The drop-in bobbin is designed to be easy to load. It also has a transparent cover so you can see how much thread is left on the bobbin.
  • There are 13 needle positions. These are very useful for specific tasks, such as sewing a zipper.
  • The Singer 7258 has a programmable needle that lets you control the stopping position. This may sound like a minor feature – but can be useful for projects such as quilting.
  • The machine’s bobbin automatically winds itself, saving time and reducing frustration.
  • Aside from the machine itself, the 7258 also comes with an instructional DVD. This teaches you how to use the machine, along with tutorials for threading and stitching.

Customer Reviews

The Singer 7258 is a versatile sewing machine that’s smooth, quiet and comes with a number of useful features. If you’re serious about sewing and need a machine that can handle almost any project, the Singer 7258 is a good choice.

Reviewers are generally very happy with the Singer 7258. There are, however, a few minor problems mentioned by reviewers.

These include that the thread can sometimes bunch when working with certain materials, such as nylon, and that the motor can struggle with thick materials.

The majority of reviewers, however, agree that the Singer 7258 provides excellent value for money. Some reviewers actually complement the machine’s ability to handle thick materials, so the previous negative comments may have been caused by the wrong settings.

Other comments, including “I love this machine!” and “fantastic value,” indicate the strong positive response to the Singer 7258.

Considering the huge quantity of positive reviews, I have no hesitation in recommending the Singer 7258 for almost any project.

Singer 7258 versus Brother CS6000i

There aren’t many sewing machines that can match the 7258, but the Brother CS6000i is an example of one that can.

Both machines provide a variety of features, although in terms of functionality the Singer model is slightly ahead. This is mainly due to the programmable needle and seven buttonhole settings – features that aren’t available on the Brother model.

That doesn’t mean you should ignore the Brother CS6000i though. While it has fewer stitches and functions, it does come with an oversized table that is useful for larger projects. The Brother sewing machine is also slightly cheaper.

The Singer 7258 is a model I highly recommend. During my research, I found that this model is one of the highest rated in its price range. It also has enough features and settings to accommodate almost any type of sewing. Whether you’re a sewing veteran, or just getting started with your first project, the Singer 7258 has everything you need.
